This app will help create Web-based Exhaust Designs using the Constant Velocity Design Method and has the following functions.
- Enter Air Properties, Select Standard or Non-standard Conditions
- Select I-P (English) or SI (Metric) Units
- Add New Projects or Edit Existing Ones
- Draw a Single-Line Exhaust System Schematic with Available Icons Within a Web Interface
- Allows for Fitting and Hood Inputs with Loss Coefficients
- Allows for Duct Lengths and Calculates Friction Losses
- Calculates Fittings and Duct Total Pressure Losses
- Output Includes by Numbered Section with Sized Ductwork and Fittings
- Output also Includes Section Pressure Losses, Path Pressure Losses and Total System Pressure Required
Shapes available include round and rectangular. Users can select I-P or SI units. Air Properties can be Standard (default) or Non-Standard with entering dry bulb temperature, relative humidity and/or elevation. The user can also select from several material roughness categories. The output includes the duct and fittings with their Descriptions and the SMACNA Fitting Code per the HVAC System Duct Design manual. Output will be totaled for each section with all ducts and fitting losses and will display the Airflow Rate, Temperature, Density, Minimum Velocity, Duct Size, Actual Velocity, Duct Length, Loss Coefficients, and each component Δpt in inches of water or pascals. The Fitting Description will also display the roughness for the Duct Run, and the position of damper blades if they are used.
The Path Total Pressure Loss List will summarize each path total pressure losses from the hood. The design will provide a well – balanced system but can be enhanced with the use of dampers to bring the imbalance close to 0 in wg or Pascals.
Multiple designs can be saved for each project. The app will output to the screen or an Excel spreadsheet. The screen can be printed to a PDF if desired, which is useful for emailing the report. A schematic of the design is included.
